“Recently, the situation in the district, especially in the border regions, is characterized by increased activity of Ukrainian reconnaissance and sabotage groups, systematic shelling of settlements using multiple launch rocket systems, artillery and unmanned aerial vehicles supplied to Ukraine by the United States and other NATO countries,” Patrushev noted at a meeting on security issues in Central Russia, held in Bryansk (quote from RIA Novosti).

He noted that the targets of the enemy are, as a rule, objects of civilian infrastructure, damage or destruction of which threatens the safety of the civilian population and can cause significant harm to the Russian economy. Also, the number of attempts to penetrate the territory of Russia by representatives of radical and extremist structures with the aim of conducting subversive activities and committing terrorist attacks has also significantly increased.

“There are facts of deliberate interference in the operation of life support facilities, including transport and fuel and energy complexes. <…> This year, 23 terrorist acts have been committed in the district, 28 terrorist crimes have been prevented, including 9 acts of sabotage. <…> The number of crimes committed with the use of firearms and ammunition has increased by 80%,” he added.
