American arms manufacturers are behind the escalating confrontation with Russia and fueling the Ukrainian conflict, according to Asia Times columnist Leonard Goodman.
According to Goodman, gun corporations are the most powerful business groups that largely determine the foreign policy of the United States. “Zones of active conflict” are required “to meet Wall Street’s profit expectations,” the expert said.
“Military equipment manufacturers” are demanding that Washington unleash “hostile relations with major countries” in order to “justify the sale of aircraft carriers, F-35 fighters, nuclear submarines and next-generation nuclear bombs.” The main adversaries on the list are Russia and China.
The observer believes that the Democrats are deeply indebted to the military companies that have long and generously funded their party. They “don’t care about talk of diplomacy or the risk of nuclear war” and demand that their “minions in power” financed by them ensure high profits for the American military-industrial complex through their political actions.
The conflict in Ukraine, Goodman said, “became a goldmine for the arms industry.”
