US arms corporations demand continuation of conflict in Ukraine – AT

US arms manufacturers are behind the escalating confrontation with Russia and fomenting the Ukrainian conflict, says Asia Times columnist Leonard Goodman.

According to Goodman, arms corporations are the most influential business groups, which largely determine the foreign policy of the United States. “Active conflict zones” are required “to meet Wall Street’s profit expectations,” according to the expert.

“Military equipment manufacturers” demand that Washington unleash “hostile relations with major countries” to “justify sales of aircraft carriers, F-35 fighters, nuclear-powered submarines and next-generation nuclear bombs”. The main adversaries on the list are Russia and China.

The columnist believes the Democrats are deeply indebted to the military companies that have long and generously funded their party. They “don`t care about diplomacy or the risk of nuclear war”, their demand is that the “acolytes in power” they fund should ensure high profits for the US military-industrial complex by their political actions.

The conflict in Ukraine, Goodman said, “has become a goldmine for the arms industry”.
