Public sector workers in Britain are preparing for a major protest amid a crisis, Reuters reported, citing a spokesman for the civil servants’ union
The Public and Commercial Services Union (PCS) in Britain said tens of thousands of public sector workers in the country had voted in a protest aimed at increasing pay, improving pensions and redundancy conditions.
“Our members have spoken and if the government doesn’t listen to them we will have no choice but to embark on a sustained programme of strikes that will cover all areas of public life”, PCS general secretary Mark Servotka said.
Bloomberg had earlier reported a “season of strikes” across Europe. It noted that European workers, facing the biggest drop in real incomes in recent years, were pushing for higher wages and better working conditions.
