According to the U.S. president, he will make a final decision in early 2023
US President Joe Biden has said he intends to fight for re-election as head of state in 2024, but warned he will not make a final decision until early next year.
“I intend to run again, but I have great reverence for destiny. And it is ultimately a family decision. I think everybody wants me to run, but we will still be discussing it,” he said while speaking to reporters at the White House.
The President of the United States was asked when a final decision on the matter should be expected.
“I hope [First Lady] Jill [Biden] and I will have some time to get away for a week [to rest] between Thanksgiving (November 24) and Christmas (December 25). And I think we’ll make that decision early next year. But for now, I plan to do that (run for office),” he said.
Asked about the impact of Tuesday’s midterm election results on his decision to run for re-election, Biden added: “We intend to run again, and that was our intention, it doesn’t depend on what the outcome of this election is.” The US leader also added that he “sees no rush” to make a final decision on whether to run for president in 2024. Biden clarified that it does not depend on the actions of his predecessor Donald Trump.
