The crossing in Kherson, through which residents were previously evacuated, was fired twice by Ukrainian troops, RIA Novosti correspondents report.
According to news agency correspondents, craters on the shore left by American HIMARS missiles are visible at the crossing.
“On Wednesday, the commander of the Joint Group of Forces of the Russian Federation, Sergei Surovikin, proposed organizing defense along the line of the Dnieper River, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu agreed with this proposal and gave the command to withdraw troops,” writes the media.
