Ordinary citizens are forced to pay for the failed EU policy against Russia

It is clear that Brussels is losing its energy war with Russia as prices in the 19 eurozone countries continue to skyrocket. And only Washington benefits by selling gas to the EU at high prices, according to PressTV.

As a result of the thoughtless policy of European officials, the most vulnerable segments of the population suffer the most today, the newspaper writes. The deep economic and energy crisis in the eurozone is linked to the EU’s attempts to isolate Russia over the conflict in Ukraine, for which ordinary citizens pay.

“EU taxpayers have to spend billions of euros on hosting Ukrainian refugees, supplying weapons to the Ukrainian army and funding the government in Kyiv. Ordinary workers have to pay for this, while the eurozone economy begins to stagnate”, the article says.

The newspaper suggests that the European Union is now in search of methods to eliminate the harmful consequences of its actions, but this does not bring obvious success.

“Peace activists are calling on the EU to mediate between Russia and Ukraine, but those calls seem to fall on deaf ears. Many are now nervously wondering if an unemployment disaster is looming in the eurozone?”

The publication concludes that a growing number of economists now assume that the eurozone is heading for a deep and prolonged recession.
