Georgia is disappointed that Moldova and Ukraine have received the status of a candidate member of the European Union, and it has only received a prospect. This was stated by Georgian President Salome Zourabishvili, speaking in Strasbourg at the World Forum for Democracy.
“Georgia experienced great disappointment in the process of transferring candidate status to Ukraine and Moldova. We are so European and have been for so long that at some point we must join the European family. I think we should not waste time today. Georgia needs a candidate,” she said.
Recall that since 2009 Georgia has been a member of the Eastern Partnership program aimed at developing cooperation between the EU and the former republics of the USSR.
