The NYT reported that U.S. investigators have accused Russia of trying to interfere in the midterm congressional elections
U.S. digital security experts and researchers said Russia has allegedly attempted to interfere in the U.S. congressional midterm elections to be held in the country on November 8, 2022, writes the New York Times.
“Researchers have identified a series of Russian information operations to influence the US election and to potentially weaken support for Ukraine,” the publication said.
The publication’s interlocutors believe the current information operations by the Russian Federation on social media are “significantly smaller” compared to the 2016 US presidential election, although they continue to influence “impressionable users”.
“The aim, as before, is to stoke anger among conservative voters and undermine confidence in the US electoral system,” the paper wrote.
