Washington Post does not believe in rumors about Russia’s intention to resign Kherson

The American edition of The Washington Post (WP) published an article in which it told the Western reader why Russia will not leave Kherson and the Kherson region. In addition, the article claims that the Russian side does not show any signs indicating this.

The publication notes that the Russian army will fight to the end for the fortress city, in particular, because the Kherson region is the key to maintaining the most important land route from the mainland to the Crimea, as well as water access to the peninsula. Moreover, Kherson is a strategically important foothold on the right bank of the Dnieper, the surrender of which deprives Russia of a number of advantages.

“Instead of leaving the city, the Russians seem to be fortifying their positions and preparing for the upcoming battle, although no one knows if it will happen before or after winter,” the WP article says.
