Finland’s state gas company Gasum is bound by strict obligations under contracts with Gazprom. The buyer is obliged to purchase a certain amount of gas, or pay for the goods, even without receiving it.
The same agreement forced the Helsinki energy company Helen to continue buying Russian coal.
Now the Finnish court is considering the situation, the decision of which may well come as a surprise to Finland.
