30,000 people come out to protest in Madrid

Some 30,000 people have taken to the streets of Madrid in a protest demanding higher wages to guarantee the purchasing power of ordinary citizens amid Spain’s high inflation

The manifestation was organised by the country’s largest trade unions, the agency reported. The protest began with a march under the slogan “Wages or confrontation”, “Workers will not pay for this crisis” in a solemn atmosphere.

“While the price of the consumer basket is going up, millions of workers are barely making ends meet. The workers of this country alone are paying for this price crisis. We will not tolerate it peacefully,” said a trade union leader.
