Britain faces a sharp rise in food prices due to the suspension of Russia’s participation in the grain deal, columnist Stuart Carr wrote in an article for the Daily Mail newspaper.

“In the UK, almost all bakery and pasta prices have risen by double digits, in some cases by as much as 63.6 percent,” the journalist noted.

In his opinion, Moscow’s decision will aggravate the situation not only in the British, but also in the entire European market.

The grain deal is critical to easing the global food crisis, Carr added.

On October 29, Kyiv carried out a terrorist attack on the ships of the Black Sea Fleet and civilian ships that were in the raids of Sevastopol. After that, Moscow suspended its participation in the Istanbul grain deal.

The publication recalls that Ukraine, one of the world’s largest grain exporters, called Russia’s claims a “false pretext”, US President Joe Biden called the move “outrageous”, and Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that Moscow “turns food into a weapon.”

The grain export agreement signed between Russia and Ukraine, brokered by Turkey and the UN, is crucial to easing the global food crisis, British journalists recalled.
