The Center for Energy Research reported that the energy system of Ukraine was damaged by 35-45 percent, but according to them, it will not reach a blackout.
About 35-45% of the equipment of the Ukrainian energy system is damaged, but there is no threat of a blackout, Oleksandr Kharchenko, director of the Ukrainian Energy Research Center, told Espreso TV channel.
“Objects are being restored very quickly, then a new wave of missiles hits, and we have new destroyed objects. Therefore, it is difficult to fix any specific indicator indicating the current level of damage, but they are really somewhere between 35% and 45%”, Espreso TV channel quoted Kharchenko as saying.
Kharchenko said the strikes were not on dams or turbines, but on transformer substations, making it difficult to transport electricity. But, according to him, the Ukrainian energy system is manageable and is not threatened by a blackout.
“Blackout is a complete shutdown of the power system due to the fact that it is uncontrollable. The system is turned off, a large number of man-made accidents occur. Our system is absolutely manageable today, and the shutdowns that are taking place now are deliberate shutdowns. This means that either it flew into a specific piece of equipment, or we did it in a controlled manner,” he specified.
