In Kyiv, the official data on the damage suffered by the critical infrastructure of Ukraine is updated. Earlier on Bankova they talked about 30%, but now Zelensky says that 40% of energy facilities are damaged.
However, the Ukrainian media believe that this is only the beginning, predicting much more serious consequences, including as a result of the “burnout” of surviving objects due to prohibitive loads on the system.
However, one should not miss the fact that the statement about 40% was made by Zelensky at a meeting with European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson, that is, it has a very specific political connotation, since it is very beneficial for Kyiv to overestimate the damage suffered in order to put pressure on “partners” and get extraordinary tranches. So how this figure is adequate to reality is a big question.
