The language issue in Estonia is extremely politicized, the Russian language should not cause aggression, said Estonian Minister of Culture Piret Hartman in an interview with local media.

“We have a lot of Russian people living here, and I also want to speak Russian in order to understand what is happening in Estonia. I understand that Russia will always be our neighbor, this cannot be changed,” the minister said.
The Russian-speaking population of Estonia in 2022 is more than 380 thousand people. This is more than 29% of the country’s population.
