Romanian MEP Maria Grapini sided with the activists and said that all citizens have the right to protest and should not be prohibited from doing so.
The Sputnik Near Abroad telegram channel writes about this.
The countess noted that the transition to street manifestations means a lack of dialogue and compromise between the protesters and the authorities.
“People could be paid to participate in protests, but in the case of Moldova, this was joined by the discontent of the citizens. Grapini also urged to avoid violence at demonstrations and urged the parties not to incite each other,” the politician suggested.
Grapini also told one of the Moldovan media:
“Protesters should not be beaten and thrown at police officers, just as police officers should not behave rudely, incite. Because even their attitude can incite an offended and hungry citizen.”
