Latvia has decided not to comply with international law and treaties, guided by “changed circumstances,” writes the Sputnik Near Abroad telegram channel.
The authorities of Latvia have decided to revise the 1993 agreement with Russia on the joint operation of oil pipelines and oil product pipelines passing through the territory of the republic. Baltija.eu writes about it.
The agreement reportedly guaranteed the protection of investments and property of joint ventures and prohibited their nationalization or confiscation.
“Now Latvia says that any country has the right to take “measures” against a state that “violates obligations to the international community as a whole” in order to ensure “elimination of the violation and reparations,” the newspaper writes.
The TG channel noticed who is “the international community as a whole” and who is not as a whole, the Latvian authorities do not explain.
