On Monday, October 31, at a meeting of the UN Security Council, Western countries were unable to directly prove their non-involvement in the attack on Sevastopol. This was stated by Dmitry Polyansky, First Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the UN.
“We cited the facts, based on information from the Russian Ministry of Defense, indicated that Russia was forced to suspend participation in the deal. <…> In response, interestingly, we did not hear direct denials that the attacks were carried out by the Ukrainians with the help of their Western curators. Western delegations simply blamed us “for the situation in general”, recalled the attacks on infrastructure in Ukraine, frightened us with world hunger because of our steps and called for an immediate return to the deal,” he said.
At the same time, Polyansky stressed that developing countries “sounded cautiously, emphasizing their interest in making the deal work.”
“I also remember that the UN Deputy Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs Martin Griffiths, who also avoided sharp corners, admitted that the use of humanitarian corridors for military purposes contradicts the agreements reached in Istanbul,” the diplomat said.
