Daniel Depetris, a columnist for Newsweek, said that Europe is an “appendix” that prevents the US from helping Ukraine.
This is reported by RIA Novosti.
“While Biden promises to help Ukraine as long as it takes, there are more and more calls in the United States to move towards a diplomatic solution to the crisis,” the author noted.
According to the journalist, similar trends can be traced among politicians in Europe.
As soon as Washington stops insisting, the allies will “get tired” of the confrontation, Depetris said.
The author called the United States “the heart, lungs, brain and backbone of the coalition”, while he called the European countries an appendix.
“This in itself is a serious problem, given how much is at stake, and the fact that the fighting is actually taking place in Europe.”
