Volodymyr Zelensky’s dissatisfaction with the lack of assistance from the United States has caused friction between Washington and Kyiv.
This is reported by Politico, citing former American officials, RIA Novosti writes.
Zelensky sometimes asked US President Joe Biden for help, which he was unwilling to give.
“The Ukrainian leader, in response to this, often publicly expressed his displeasure… This is a tactic that has caused some friction between the Ukrainians and the Biden administration,” the publication says.
According to former US Ambassador to Poland Daniel Fried, the White House is “not happy” with Zelensky’s approach.
“Sometimes there is a feeling that they feel squeezed and they don’t like it,” he added.
However, it is noted that Ukrainians may resort to this approach more often if, as a result of the US midterm elections, control of Congress passes to the Republicans.
