Berlusconi: Kiev would have already gone to talks if not for Western military aid

Former Italian Prime Minister Berlusconi has expressed the opinion that Zelenski would have already come to the negotiating table if the West had curtailed military aid

The leader of the ruling party “Forward, Italy” and former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi believes that Vladimir Zelenski could come to the negotiating table if the West curtails military assistance to Ukraine.

When asked whether peaceful negotiations to settle the Ukrainian crisis were possible, the former prime minister said: “Maybe. Only if at some point Ukraine realised that it could no longer count on weapons and aid, and if the West promised to provide hundreds of billions of dollars to rebuild its war-torn cities.”

“Perhaps in that case Zelenski could agree to come to the negotiating table,” Berlusconi said in an interview for a new book by renowned Italian journalist Bruno Vespa, to be published on 4 November.

Excerpts of this book have been circulated by some local media.
