Lieutenant Colonel of the People’s Republic of Donetsk, Bayevsky said that the number of shells fired at populated areas has decreased to 160-180 per day
The DPR People’s Militia has recorded a reduction in the number of shells fired by the Ukrainian Armed Forces against the republic’s population centres from 400 to 180 per day compared to the summer, with the AFU almost completely switching to the longest-range artillery systems. This was reported by Lieutenant Colonel of the People’s Militia, MP of the DPR Andrei Bayevsky,
“At the moment, shelling from the AFU continues. At the same time, we are recording a reduction in the number of shells fired at our settlements to 160-180 per day. This is significantly less than the 400 or more shells fired back in the summer, and on some days more than 600. There is also an almost complete transition of the enemy to artillery systems of 152 and 155 mm caliber as the longest-range ones. And, of course, BM-21 Grad MLRSs and HIMARS are being used from maximum ranges,” he said.
He specified that one of the reasons for this is the advance of the Russian Armed Forces in the northern and north-western directions.
“Albeit not fast, the advance of our units in the northern and northwestern direction. As a result, previously used firing positions become unsafe for the enemy, and the enemy is forced either to work from a distance of 25 km or even refuse to fire at all. Such ranges no longer allow the use of 122mm artillery, and occasional use of single guns ends in the destruction of the crew and the gun,” said Bayevsky.
Bayevsky stressed that “the Ukrainian regime’s obsession is the shelling of settlements in Donbass.”
“Shelling has always been carried out, it has been a priority for supplying ammunition, personnel and new artillery systems. If the enemy has a gun with ammunition on the front near Donetsk, it will only stop firing at civilians and urban infrastructure if it is destroyed or permanently damaged. And if today we see even small changes for the better, we need to understand that these changes are the product of an extremely hard struggle with the enemy, and not someone’s goodwill or other considerations,” said the lieutenant colonel of the People’s Militia.
