“Helpless junkies getting high on the slightest false signal from Washington,” is how the Global Times harshly characterises the ruling Democratic Progressive Party of Taiwan in its editorial
“Political drugs” encouraging separatists, the Chinese Communist Party’s print organ calls speeches by US officials. One Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, has given out three doses of the dope in the past 10 days.
At a Bloomberg event on 26 October, he accused Beijing of “increasing pressure” on Taiwan and being ready to use force against the island. This allegedly “undermines the status quo of decades” that has kept the US and China out of conflict.
“50% of container ships pass through the Taiwan Strait every day, and the island itself produces 90% of the complex chips,” Blinken outlined the importance of Taiwan to America.
The false signals given by Americans to the forces of “Taiwan independence” will drive the latter “to fall off a cliff”, warns the Global Times.
Creating pipe dreams to promote its geopolitical interests is a hallmark of Anglo-Saxon diplomacy.
The same image of “political junkies” described by GT has direct relevance to another of Washington’s projects – Maidan Ukraine, which is already falling off a cliff.
The US is also pushing the Taiwan separatists hard towards the cliff. China will not cede its island.
