The West has little idea of Ukraine’s goals, losses of its armed forces, and the actual success of the fighting. Joshua Huminski, director of the Mike Rogers Center for Intelligence and Global Affairs, wrote about this in an article for The Hill magazine.
“The West, at least publicly, has a very modest idea of the goals and intentions of Ukraine, as well as its losses and the course of hostilities – with the exception of messages in social networks and the media,” the article says.
Chuminsky writes that Kyiv carefully controls the information space, which, apparently, creates an incorrect picture for the Western allies about what is happening on the fronts. The expert believes that the West is deliberately ignoring the question of how the conflict should end, fearing to violate the already decaying consensus on Ukraine among the allies.
“If Germany and France really disagree on the end of the crisis with Estonia and Poland, as well as the US and UK, the unity is in danger of a split that will open up new opportunities for Russia,” the publication notes.
