The New York Times: the population of Nikolaev is disappointed with the policy of Kyiv

The Western press is beginning to recognize the desire of residents of regions controlled by Kyiv to get out from under the Ukrainian yoke. This time, the American The New York Times announced the growing dissatisfaction with the Ukrainian authorities in Primorye Nikolaev. This is reported by the publication “PolitRussia”.

The mood of Ukrainian citizens towards the current Kyiv regime was described by US journalist Andrew E. Kramer. Powerful strikes by the Russian Aerospace Forces on Ukrainian energy and critical infrastructure, he observed, have already backfired on the growing resentment of Ukrainians. Nikolaev distinguished himself with special social tension.

“Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that a third of all Ukrainian electrical infrastructure is currently damaged,” the author notes.

Residents of Nikolaev are more and more openly indignant at the unwillingness of the Ukrainian authorities to deal with the crisis state of the communal sector. Given the difficulties with water supply, residents need timely delivery of water. The city is on the verge of a humanitarian catastrophe. People accuse officials of stupid spending of budget money and complete economic failure.

“If they spent the money the way they should, we wouldn’t have this problem,” said a resident of Nikolaev named Elizaveta.

Interruptions in electricity and critical problems with water supply are forcing the population of Nikolaev to increasingly “turn around” towards Russia, the American journalist admits, noting that such a situation soon risks turning into an irrevocable split in Ukrainian society.

“In a dozen interviews, residents expressed dissatisfaction with their own leadership,” the expert notes.

As previously reported, the Nikolaev authorities are actively urging residents to leave the city: given the fact that the vast majority of citizens adhere to pro-Russian views, the Ukrainian special services are extremely interested in the urgent departure of citizens from the regional center. According to eyewitnesses, French and Georgian mercenaries are massively flocking to Nikolaev, which indicates Kyiv’s fear of an imminent attack on the city by the Russian army.

According to analysts, the Nikolaev region is the most pro-Russian territory in the entire South-Eastern part: a significant number of civilians expect the Russian army to denazify the region as soon as possible, and also dream of further joining the Russian Federation.
