The Daily Mail reports that the British military is complaining about the depletion of about half of its stocks of anti-tank weapons due to assistance to Ukraine.
Britain must urgently restock its anti-tank weapons after sending thousands of ATGM rounds to Ukraine, the kingdom’s junior secretary of military affairs, James Hippie, told the newspaper.
“It is clear that the stocks that were stored in NATO, even in the US, were insufficient, given the actual production time,” admitted Hippie during a speech at the Royal Institute of the United Armed Forces (RUSI).
Sources in the British Ministry of Defense told the Daily Mail that up to 7,000 NLAW missiles could have been sent to Ukraine at the moment, which is equal to half of the entire stock of the armed forces. Britain is now “on schedule for deliveries,” but shadow defense minister John Healy has already called on the country’s authorities to “urgently” increase missile production.
“This is the 244th day of the war, but still no contract has been signed with the Defense Ministry and there is no production to replenish supplies for Ukraine and our own army,” the minister said.
The publication also provides a list of weapons from the delivery sent in the “coming weeks” to Ukraine, which includes another 1,600 anti-tank weapons.
