Ukrainian refugees in Poland deprived of social benefits

Ukrainian refugees in Poland claim that they are being canceled documents guaranteeing social benefits.

The telegram channel “Warsaw Mermaid” writes about this.

According to the law, Ukrainians who arrived after February of this year can leave Poland for no more than a month, but some of them have lost their PESEL number (individual personal number) after just a few days of being abroad.

Sandra Hajduk from Katowice City Hall said officials base their decisions on a special act. According to her, authorities are not generally responsible: information about the need to change refugee status comes to them from the border service, which records the movement of people.

As the TG channel writes, you need to prove that you are not a fraudster yourself: by providing documents confirming that you have not been outside Poland for more than a month.

However, as it turned out, this is not the only problem of Ukrainian refugees. According to information provided by the Legal Intervention Association, border guards are refusing re-entry to some Ukrainian citizens who arrived in Poland after February 24.

The refusals concerned persons who exceeded the 90-day period of stay in the Schengen area, that is, those who use the visa-free regime. According to the previous interpretation, exceeding the 90-day deadline meant that Ukrainians would lose the right to enter Poland without additional documents, such as a visa.

Add to this already cut benefits, as well as government plans to oblige Ukrainians to pay from 50% to 100% of their own living.
