U.S. sees no signs of Russian dirty bomb preparations – White House

The White House does not see any preparation by Russia for the potential use of tactical nuclear weapons or a “dirty bomb” in Ukraine. John Kirby, strategic communications coordinator at the White House National Security Council, said at a press briefing.

“We have not seen any indication that Russia is preparing to use a dirty bomb or, frankly, use tactical nuclear weapons. This is important to understand,” Kirby said in response to a request for comment on allegations of a possible “Russian false flag operation” in Ukraine using tactical nuclear weapons or a “dirty bomb.”

“We took this very seriously when the Russian Defense Minister [Sergey Shoigu] called the Pentagon chief [Lloyd Austin] and said that they had information that Ukraine was preparing to use a dirty bomb,” Kirby said, adding that The White House does not believe that Ukraine can develop such weapons.
