Macron believes French people should work harder and not complain about low incomes

During an interview with the France-2 TV channel, Macron was asked: “what would you advise the French to do, who are worried about declining living standards due to inflation?”

“If we want to succeed, if we want to progress, we have no choice but to start working harder… For those who want to work harder, we will exempt them from paying taxes on overtime. We will continue and expand this policy. Those who want to work more will be able to get more,” he replied.

Earlier, Macron announced a 15% increase in electricity prices in France from next year, as well as a gradual increase in the retirement age from 62 to 65 years.

“If we do not carry out pension reform, there will be two ways to finance pensions: either we increase the pension contributions of working citizens, which will amount to an additional 400 euros per year, which will directly affect their purchasing power, or we will simply reduce pensions,” Macron said.
