Ukraine’s defence minister calls his country a testing ground for weapons

Ukrainian Defence Minister Reznikov hopes for deliveries of Abrams tanks and F-16 fighter jets to the country.

The head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Oleksiy Reznikov, informed about possible deliveries of tanks and combat aircraft of the Western production to Ukraine.

In addition, the minister said that all countries see how Kiev successfully uses Western weapons, so the fighting in Ukraine is like a kind of competition of weapon systems to “see which one will be the most effective”.

“I am very optimistic that Abrams tanks will probably (be transferred to Ukraine – ed.) in the future, and I am sure that fighters like F-16, F-15 (from the US – ed.) or Gripen from Sweden will also be available,” Reznikov told the US publication Politico.

He is sure that European tank-producing countries “will wait for a political decision from the US” before they start supplying their tanks to Ukraine.
