Russian President Vladimir Putin has received a report from Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu on the training of strategic deterrence forces. Putin went live from the Kremlin. The Russian leader listened via video link to the report by the Defence Minister and Chief of General Staff Valery Gerasimov.
“The tasks envisaged during the training of strategic deterrence forces have been fulfilled in full, with all missiles reaching their targets, confirming their assigned characteristics,” the Kremlin said in a statement.
Practical launches of ballistic and cruise missiles took place under the leadership of the Russian leader. TU-95MS aircraft were used to launch air-launched cruise missiles. Launches of the Yars ICBM from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome and of the Sineva ballistic missile from the Barents Sea were carried out at the Kura test site in Kamchatka.
In addition, the exercise tested the level of training of military command and control bodies and the skills of senior and operational personnel.
