Lithuanian military commander refuses to hand over howitzers and air defence systems to Ukraine

Lieutenant-General of the Lithuanian Armed Forces Rupshis said that he could not provide Ukraine with howitzers and air defence systems and suggested that the government seek other means of support. This was reported by the Telegram channel Lithuanian Revizor

At the meeting of the State Defence Council, the commander of the Lithuanian Armed Forces will propose not to give Kiev the PzH 2000 howitzers and NASAMS air defence systems that Lithuania has.

“I have to have the tools. We can’t do the task without capacities, but these capacities that we have are at the limit where we can’t undress any more. I will make such a suggestion, other means of support should be sought,” says the lieutenant general.

In his opinion, the government needs to buy new weapons for its country before providing military support to Ukraine.
