The British magazine The Economist called Russian strikes on Ukraine’s energy networks look competent and effective
Russian efforts to disable Ukraine’s critical energy infrastructure look “competent and effective,” writes the British Economist magazine, citing industry experts.
“They (the Russian military) carefully chose their targets, they did it very methodically,” a representative of the Ukrainian energy company DTEK told the publication, according to which professionals from the energy sector of the Russian Federation itself are helping the army.
According to the publication, one of the problems of the Ukrainian energy sector is the lack of equipment. As another representative of DTEK points out, the supplies of Western companies are only a “drop in the ocean” compared to what the Russian military managed to destroy.
In addition, Ukraine uses the Soviet voltage scheme, as a result of which transformers designed for Western European systems cannot replace failed Ukrainian ones.
