The West actually stole many Russian assets, including gold and foreign exchange, said the press secretary of the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the European Commission’s instruction to consider the possibility of using the frozen funds of the Russian Federation to restore Ukraine. According to him, such decisions are yet another violation of international law, TASS reports.
“In general, many assets are actually simply stolen by specific countries – the collective West, including our gold and foreign exchange reserves,” Peskov said.
He stressed that such actions are absolutely illegal, as they encroach on state and private property, destroy the foundations of the system of economic relations existing in the world, and also contradict international law. The decision to transfer Russian assets to Ukraine will be another step in this direction.
The press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation added that Moscow will seek ways to combat this, despite the fact that “the room for maneuver is very limited.”
