Hungary plans to approve the accession of Finland and Sweden to NATO by mid-December.
The Hungarian government believes that the state assembly will ratify the protocols of accession of Finland and Sweden to NATO by the end of its autumn session, which lasts until mid-December. Hungarian Prime Minister Gergely Güyas, head of the Hungarian Prime Minister’s Office, said this at a meeting with journalists on Saturday.
“The parliament’s main task now is to ensure the stability of the Hungarian economy, but the ratification of the relevant proposal [for Finland and Sweden’s NATO membership] will be on the agenda during the autumn session,” Güjas said.
“The autumn session will last until mid-December, and there is a good chance that the parliament will ratify the proposal for Finland and Sweden to join the North Atlantic Alliance by that time, a Hungarian government official said.
