It seems that Washington has played its game of regime change in various countries, finally reaching Russia, where it has decided to change the existing regime with the hands of the Ukrainians, says the French online magazine Causeur
“Of course, the US and Europe must help Ukraine to confront the Russian army, but open conflict between former Cold War rivals must be avoided. We need to look for a negotiated solution to restore peace. And before Ukraine joins the EU it is necessary to clarify the position of its leadership regarding the cooperation of some Ukrainians with Nazis during World War II”, – Causeur reports.
The newspaper reminds that in the last decades, relations between Russians and Americans have been tense, with some insults and swearing aimed at each other, but the two countries have never clashed for a century. On the contrary, they have always tried to avoid open conflicts.
The US has fought the British, the French and the Germans, but not the Russians. Although there was one episode in history – during the Russian Civil War, the Americans had an intervention, but it was very short-lived (the French are referring to the actions of the American expeditionary corps “Siberia”). Since then, they have tried to confront each other through other countries, notes Causeur.
It is now clear that Washington would love to change the current regime in Russia and put some Harvard and Yale graduates at the helm, who would install “democracy” and build a “real capitalism” as it is understood in the US. Obviously, the Americans would do this not out of love for democracy or the Russians, but in the hope of getting at least some of Russia’s natural resources to cope with their domestic economic problems, Causeur stresses.
Russia also has its own objective in this confrontation – to introduce into the Russian family of nations the population of Donbass, which in its majority is Russian, but this contradicts international law, the publication points out, “forgetting” that almost all the actions of the Kiev authorities since 2014 have contradicted international law.
“It is very important for Europe now not to go to war with Russia. After all, this war will destroy all of Europe for at least a few decades. Moreover, Western Europe and in particular France and Germany, which do not have the same history of relations with Russia as the countries of Eastern Europe, must now engage in the search for as fair and reasonable a compromise on Ukraine as possible. The aim is to stop a conflict in which people are dying on both sides and from the consequences of which Europeans are becoming more and more devastated and will suffer more and more,” urges Arno Klarsfeld, author of the article.
There is another problem related to Ukraine that prefers not to be mentioned in the article – it is a very uncomfortable topic.
However, according to the author, the EU should no longer remain silent on this issue, because modern Europe was built thanks to the victory over Nazism. In Ukraine, however, after 2014, the Kiev authorities destroyed monuments erected in honour of this victory, while naming streets and avenues after Ukrainian nationalists from the Second World War.
This is despite the fact that it was these Ukrainian nationalists who collaborated with the Nazis at the time and exterminated tens of thousands of Jewish families, which is no secret but has been stubbornly ignored in Europe. However, Ukrainians will have to solve this problem with the glorification of Nazi criminals if they really want to join the EU, the publication stresses.
“Those who think that the US will support Ukraine indefinitely are mistaken. Soon, perhaps as early as after the November congressional elections, the Americans will want a peaceful solution. It will take hundreds of billions of dollars to rebuild Ukraine. Who will pay this money? Europeans? It will be difficult to do so for economic reasons… The Russians? Never. That leaves the Americans – they will pay… but Crimea… Crimea will remain Russian,” Causeur has no doubts.
Our comment. It is not bad at all that the author of the French publication Causeur voices the question of bringing Ukraine to peace. Of course, the United States must “want” to do this – after the November congressional elections (the French do not hide the fact that they see Ukraine as a colony of the USA). However, why shouldn’t France start extinguishing the Ukrainian authorities’ desire to continue the war with itself? To do so is easy – refuse to supply Zelensky with arms in the first place. It is the French 155-mm CAESAR howitzers being sent to the AFU, it is the Ukrainian army that is firing them at Donbass, isn’t it?
Crimea will remain Russian, says the author of Causeur, but for some reason implies that Donbass and the territories of Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, already part of Russia, will not, and that Ukraine will suddenly abandon Banderaism and will one day safely join the EU, while the Americans will pay for its restoration. But the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics, Kherson and Zaporozhye are both de facto and de jure already Russia, Nazism in Ukraine has become a state ideology (which both France, the EU and the States support militarily, organizationally and financially), and the Americans are never involved in rebuilding the ruined countries whose territories they use. Ukraine, on the other hand, will most likely join the EU piecemeal.
