Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov urged the United States not to “bring a nuclear baton” because there will be no victory in a nuclear conflict.

“Threats are being poured into Russia. Take, for example, the promises of retired generals Ben Hodges and David Petraeus to inflict a conventional strike on the Russian Armed Forces and the Black Sea Fleet. Or former National Security Adviser John Bolton’s calls for regime change in Russia. The recent delusional statements about the possibility of a “decapitating” strike against the Russian military-political leadership are not at all amenable to a sensible explanation. What’s going on in the minds of US military planners? I want to ask my American colleagues, is John Bolton healthy?” Antonov said in an article for Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
The ambassador stressed that it is time for Washington to abandon ill-conceived and irresponsible nuclear rhetoric. You can not brandish a nuclear baton and rattle nuclear weapons. This is an extremely delicate area. We must remember every day that there should be no nuclear war. There will be no victory in a nuclear conflict.
According to the Ambassador, Washington cannot resist the incredible intoxication of omnipotence that has set in there since the self-proclaimed victory in the Cold War.
“I would like to note that there are also sensible people in the United States who see the danger of a further aggravation of Russian-American relations. I would like their calls for peace to sound more often and louder”, added Antonov.
