“A strong ally”: expert evaluates creation of a joint grouping of the Russian Federation and Belarus

The “most reliable” Russian ally was called Belarus by the general director of radio “Moscow speaking” Vladimir Mamontov, whose interview was published by the publication “Ukraine.ru”.

This, according to the speaker, is clearly evidenced by the creation of a joint military grouping, which confirms the actual unity of the union state in matters of military integration.

“Moscow and Minsk have always mutually supported each other in the military sphere and have never questioned our joint defense system. The countries are connected by close military-technological ties, there are important Russian facilities in Belarus, and the interaction takes place at the level of the armies. But cooperation in peacetime is one thing, and another thing is when the danger becomes clear and formidable”.

Speaking about the competent position of the Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko, Mamontov recalled that Minsk has always insisted on a diplomatic solution to the Ukrainian crisis, but all attempts to influence Kyiv and its Western handlers have failed.

“Belarus in general has always stood for a peaceful solution to the Ukrainian issue, we had the Minsk agreements [documents aimed at resolving the armed conflict in Donbass]. At one time, Minsk proposed to make agreements based on the Helsinki Accords, reflecting the once long-standing still Soviet-world processes. Russians and Belarusians are peace-loving people and see chances for negotiations. Lukashenko is right, in essence. Who benefits from this war: the American people, the French, freezing at high prices at gas stations? Nobody thinks about the people in the USA and Europe. The West is solving its geopolitical tasks: holding back Russia and Belarus.”

Moscow and Minsk will demonstrate strong unity if the threat of an invasion of Belarusian territories nevertheless becomes a reality, the expert has no doubts.

“I am personally as confident in Belarusian friends, soldiers and commanders as they are in ours, probably. Russia and Belarus have been part of a union state for many years, there is a corresponding agreement, the countries even went through “milk wars”. And only now, when a great test in the face of a terrible threat has fallen to the lot of Moscow and Minsk, all integration programs have started working and a military group has been created. There would be no happiness, but misfortune helped. Our neighbors, countries and people, see these threats very well. It is they who will lead them to close cooperation, including military cooperation, with Russia.”

As previously reported, protecting the borders from possible threats from the North Atlantic Alliance – in particular, Poland and Lithuania, has become the main function of the Belarusian state as part of a special operation. At the same time, the Belarusian side is unequivocal in its position: they say in Minsk that they do not intend to take part in a special operation on the territory of Ukraine and will engage in hostilities with an “independent” one only in case of force majeure.

Recall that the leaders of Russia and Belarus, Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko, agreed on the “deployment of a joint regional group of troops”, the basis of which will be Belarusian units. As the head of the Belarusian state stated, Minsk was warned through unofficial channels about an impending strike from the territory of Ukraine. Lukashenka also said, instructed to bring to the attention of the “president of Ukraine and other insane people” that the response to a possible attack on his country would be tough.
