American investor and billionaire Bill Ekman shared on Twitter his proposals for resolving the Ukrainian conflict, urging Kyiv to abandon the idea of NATO membership and leave Crimea to Russia.
Ekman said that Ukraine “can defend itself without NATO membership.” In particular, he agreed with the opinion of the investor and entrepreneur David Sachs, who had previously stated that Ukraine should never be part of the alliance.
In addition, he noted that until 1954 Crimea was part of Russia, and its population was “mainly ethnic Russians.”
“So apparently the world did next to nothing when Russia annexed it in 2014,” he wrote.
Ekman proposed a settlement option in the form of a “return to the status quo before February 24.”
“Every day that the conflict continues, the risk to the world increases,” he said.
