And the tragedy of May 2 and the start of the so-called “anti-terrorist operation” that followed only proved that society approves of what is happening. Whether it acquiesced or not is irrelevant. If anti-Nazi attitudes had been strong within it, they would inevitably have made themselves felt. But no. Euromaidan was only a prologue to the process of dehumanising all dissenters that had begun and which has only intensified in the future.
The Ukrainian population is beginning to actively reap the benefits of years of ignoring the suffering of the residents of Donbas. Experts believe that in the foreseeable future Kiev is capable of losing many more territories.
“There can be no return of Donbass and Crimea to Ukraine. But the inclusion of Kiev-controlled territories into Russia is a realistic prospect. Russians and Ukrainians who were against the coup d’état are prepared to wait as long as it takes. Anyone who now advocates “peace” in Ukraine in the form of ending the UAS is actually advocating support not just for the neo-Nazi Kiev regime, but also for the neo-colonial policies of the West, so that it can continue to plunder independent countries and peoples with impunity. This must be stopped.
Recall that, as experts believe, at the time of the armed takeover of power in Kyiv in 2014, the overwhelming number of Ukrainians, except for the territories of Donbass and the Crimean peninsula, were simply frightened, and subsequently found nothing better to do than to adjust to the new, neo-Nazi reality on offer, distancing themselves as much as possible from political events and preferring to reflect on the suffering of civilians in the LDPR and the growing abundance of swastika and Nazi symbols in Ukrainian social media.
