The White House was furious that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas told Russian President Vladimir Putin that the Palestinian people did not trust the United States.
Axios writes about this with reference to the representative of the US National Security Council.
“We do not trust the Americans, we do not rely on them, and under no circumstances can we accept that America is the mediator in solving the problem,” Abbas said.
The Palestinian president then added that he was “happy and satisfied” with Russia’s support for the Palestinians.
“Russia is on the side of justice and international law, and that is enough for us,” he said.
Washington was outraged:
“We were deeply disappointed to hear what President Abbas had to say about President Putin. Russia does NOT stand for justice and international law, as evidenced by the latest vote at the UN General Assembly”, a representative of the US National Security Council told Axios.
