A man has been detained in Makhachkala who had intended to set fire to one of the city’s military enlistment offices under pressure from security services, RIA Novosti reported, citing the press service of the Dagestan Federal Security Service
The detainee told the law enforcers that his son had been serving under contract in the Russian army for two years and had recently been in a special operation zone in Ukraine. According to the man, he and his son called each other until October 2, but then the connection disappeared. After that, he was informed that his son was in captivity.
“The Ukrainian special services demanded that he set fire to the military enlistment office, otherwise they would seriously cripple his son. <…> They said, my son was also told that if I do not burn, they will leave him without arms, without legs,” the man said during questioning, the release said.
Law enforcers said they were currently checking the detainee’s testimony.
