The European Union plans to train 15,000 Ukrainian servicemen as part of a training mission for Ukraine, but this figure may change depending on the situation and Kiev’s needs, a senior European source has told reporters.
Earlier it was reported that the foreign ministers plan to make an official decision on launching the training mission for Ukraine on 17 October, it may start in mid-November, the budget of the project has already been agreed, the number of participating countries and their functions are being agreed.
“The figure of 15,000 is indicative and can change depending on the situation in Ukraine. This figure has been determined in accordance with Ukraine’s stated needs,” the source said.
The source noted that the mission would be financed from the European Peace Facility, which also provides Kiev with funding for military assistance.
