FSB prevented terrorist attacks planned by Ukraine in Moscow

The Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia announced the suppression of sabotage and terrorist acts using man-portable air defense systems (MANPADS) “Igla”, which the special services of Ukraine were preparing in the Moscow region, reports the FSB of the Russian Federation on Wednesday, October 12.

“The preparation by the special services of Ukraine of sabotage and terrorist acts using high-precision weapons in the Moscow region has been stopped. A citizen of Ukraine born in 1972 was detained”, the release says (quote from RIA Novosti).

According to reports, on the instructions of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), the detainee, in a cache prepared in a car, transported from Kyiv to Russia in transit through the territory of Estonia the Igla MANPADS to carry out terrorist acts. On the spot, he picked up a place to store them.

“The figurant has repented of his deed and is cooperating with the investigation,” the message says. Two Igla MANPADS and “communication means confirming his criminal actions and contacts with SBU officers” were confiscated from him.

Criminal proceedings have so far been launched under one article – on the illegal acquisition and storage of weapons by an organized group (part 4 of article 222 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), within the framework of which “his involvement in other illegal actions is documented.”
