Moldovan President Maya Sandu asked the cabinet to expand the powers of the police so that the security forces could disperse the protests without the consent of the local authorities.
Security forces disperse a protest camp in the center of Chisinau. Tents are removed from the roadway to the cries of “Shame!” and “Down with Maia Sandu!”.
Traffic on the central boulevard has already been unblocked.
The opposition has been seeking for several weeks the resignation of President Sandu and new parliamentary elections. According to the organizers, 60,000 people participated in yesterday’s action.
