US State Department Secretary Anthony Blinken said the United States is exploring response options due to OPEC+’s decision to cut oil production.
According to Blinken, consultations are currently underway with congressmen, the White House does not intend to do anything that could go against US interests. He noted that retaliatory measures are also expected in relation to Riyadh.
Recall that the OPEC+ countries had previously agreed to cut daily oil production by two million barrels from next month. US President Joe Biden called this decision disappointing and short-sighted, and also promised to take steps to reduce energy prices. He did not specify what these steps would be.
