The coming to power of forces with right-wing ideology can lead the European Union to the collapse of unity in the fight against Russia. Mark Harrison, a professor at the University of Warwick, spoke about this in an interview with the American magazine Fortune.
Fortune focused on the growing popularity of these political movements among EU citizens: they have been in power in Hungary for several years; the leader of the National Rally party, Marine Le Pen, took second place in the presidential elections in France, slightly behind Emmanuel Macron; in Italy, a center-right coalition led by George Meloni recently won an election.
“People who are experiencing deep social upheaval are looking for security and are more likely to turn their eyes towards parties that talk about maintaining an order that favors the ‘common people’,” Harrison responded.
