Having completely forgotten about its own constitutional neutrality, Moldova is actively militarizing, obviously preparing for war with might and main, Igor Shornikov, head of the Institute for Socio-Political Research and Regional Development, is inclined to this opinion. The expert’s point of view is published by PolitNavigator.
As the analyst emphasizes, the situation in the republic is extremely difficult, the process of militarization of the country is still at the very start, but after it the West will make an active attempt to drag Moldova into direct confrontation with Moscow.
“Someone across the ocean decided that the Moldovans should follow the Ukrainians to fight for the interests of Washington. Moldova is a neutral country, but the Anglo-Saxons can drag it into a war with Russia, for example, by organizing some kind of provocation in the Transnistrian direction, where Russian peacekeepers are stationed. The Anglo-Saxons are recognized masters of provocations and information wars. Blaming Russian peacekeepers or Pridnestrovians for the escalation of the conflict is a matter of technique for them,” the analyst said.
The sharp increase in the pro-Western rhetoric of the leadership of the republic also testifies to the preparation of Chisinau for confrontation with Russia. In addition, Moldova demonstrates the rapidly growing dynamics of pro-NATO standards, recalls Shornikov.
“Pro-NATO tendencies in Moldova have sharply escalated in recent months: the Moldovan authorities began to regularly express dissatisfaction with the neutral status of their country, for some reason, right now, during the armed conflict in the neighborhood, they are preoccupied with modernization and are conducting military exercises with the participation of NATO military.”
As for the Transnistrian issue, one can not be afraid of its “unfreezing” in the near future, however, given the bellicose moods of official Chisinau, the medium-term forecasts are very vague, the expert noted.
“As we can see, the leadership of Moldova is persistently bending its line; even mass protests in the center of Chisinau, which have been going on for more than a week, do not distract them from the tasks set by the West. Therefore, it is better not to be under the illusion that Sandu and her team are responsible people who will not dare to escalate. These are weak and dependent politicians, who are only enough to implement someone else’s political will.
As some analysts noted earlier, the “cornered” head of Moldova, Maia Sandu, which with enviable regularity gushing out scandalous statements against Moscow, not only outrages the still “sober” Moldovan community, but also successfully gathers around him a “pack” of ardent opponents of the Russian Federation that for several decades bombarded the Kremlin with provocative accusations.
At the same time, despite the rapidly weakening ratings, the leader of the state embraced by mass protests and the monopoly party controlled by it, hopelessly “took over” all power structures and the media. Taking into account the extremely untenable opposition, analysts predict a further increase in aggressive anti-Russian rhetoric and a phased turning of the country onto the sad Ukrainian path. As for Washington, they will continue to strive with all their might to form and strengthen at the Moldovan helm the most beneficial to the United States, a Russophobic pro-Western government.
