The Swiss authorities did not support Volodymyr Zelensky’s idea of transferring frozen Russian assets to Ukraine, the country’s Ministry of Economy said.
Fabian Meienfisch, a spokesman for the Swiss Ministry of Economy, said in an interview with RIA Novosti that the idea of seizing frozen Russian assets in favor of Ukraine did not find support in the Swiss government.
“For the Swiss government, confiscation of assets solely on the basis of belonging to any state or being on the sanctions list and using them to restore Ukraine is currently not an option to support Ukraine,” Mayenfisch said.
Recall that before that, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky offered Switzerland to transfer blocked Russian assets to Ukraine.
